The Windows Installer CleanUp Utility is a Microsoft Windows OS (32-bit and 64-bit) software utility, designed to solve program "uninstallation problems" that use the Windows Installer technology.

The utility finds registry references and files related to Windows Installer installed by various programs, then forcibly wipes-out invalid entries.

In 1999, Microsoft released the utility to help Windows-based computers, clean up installed programs that refused removal, or pretended to remove themselves, from the "add/remove programs" utility in Microsoft Windows.

The utility will only change registry values and files associated with the Windows Installer portion, on the particular problem program. It is only to be used as a last-ditch attempt, when dealing with a buggy program.

The utility can only be run by users who are logged in as system administrators.

Warning: The Windows Installer CleanUp Utility is provided "as is" to help resolve installation problems for programs that use Microsoft Windows Installer. If you use this utility, you may have to reinstall other programs. Caution is advised.

Note: We recommend that you do not use this utility with 2007 Office system products.
